There’s nothing quite like the comforting aroma of a warm pecan cobbler baking in the oven. Rich, buttery, and filled with the deep, nutty sweetness of Southern pecans. This dessert is the perfect blend of old-fashioned charm and indulgent flavor, combining a gooey caramel-like filling with a soft, golden crust. Every bite tastes like home, making it a must-have for family gatherings, holiday dinners, or any time you’re craving something cozy and delicious. Serve it warm with a scoop of ice cream, and you’ve got a dessert that feels as special as it tastes.
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups self-rising flour
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 stick (½ cup) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 ½ cups chopped pecans (or use halved for more crunch)
- 1 ½ cups brown sugar, packed
- 1 ½ cups hot water
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Pour melted butter into the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Do not stir.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Pour the batter evenly over the butter—again, do not stir.
- Sprinkle chopped pecans evenly over the batter.
- Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over the top.
- Carefully pour hot water over the entire dish. (It will look unusual, but don’t mix—it creates the cobbler’s rich, gooey layer.)
- Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbling.
- Let cool slightly before serving. The bottom will be thick and syrupy, like a pecan pie filling.
